Today I wanted to share some images from Pratiksha and Kunal’s 2 day Hindu wedding celebration. The festivities started a few days before their actual wedding with a Sangeet put on by their family and friends. It was here that I quickly realized that both sides of this wedding hold these marriage traditions dear and carry them out with much passion, joy and love. The decoration of the venue, ceremonial outfits, music, and food were all exquisite. Later on there were ceremonies and traditional dance performances by guests of all ages that were gorgeous and very fun to photograph. Finally, after a hysterical roast of the Bride and Groom I began to understand why its typical for a Hindu wedding to have 700+ guests. It’s because they’re awesome! Who wouldn’t want to attend such a fun event? Invite the the whole village! Sounds like my kind of party. On the big day as the Baraat procession was starting, I found myself hanging out of the back of a box truck, shooting out over hundreds of screaming and dancing people wearing even brighter outfits than they were a few days earlier. They were all cheering for Kunal riding on a tricked out horse, I thought to myself that the 15 hours of photographing ahead of me was going to go very quickly and that being able to shoot an event like this was something special and a creatively invigorating change of pace.
