I’ve taken a short hiatus from blogging recently, been busy preparing  for a big announcement on the blog as well as shooting quite a bit.  If you are a fan of InfocusNYC Photography on Facebook you may already know the big news.  Stay tuned, the official announcement is coming soon, or you can give us a “like” on FB to find out sooner!  The last time Lauren and Jesse on the blog was for their Asbury Park Engagement session.  Scroll down to see some images from their wedding at Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park.  It was a gorgeous day, at a gorgeous location, for a gorgeous couple.

Many people would call Jenny + Pete unlucky. First their engagement session was rained out 2 separate occasions.  Then on their wedding day an evil witch named Hurricane Irene showed up, postponing the reception due to mandatory evacuations of the coast.  Finally it rained for their re-scheduled reception.  You’ve heard the consulation statement,  rain is lucky for weddings, after shooting with Jenny + Pete, I believe it.  They are so lucky to have each other!  I’ve never met 2 people who could roll with the punches so well, as long as they were together and were getting married, it was a bright, happy day, both times.   Never for a moment was there a frown on either of their faces, it was more like, YAY!!! We get to have 2 weddings TOGETHER!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Holiday!  I wanted to share some images from Sharon and Shelby’s wedding at the Rockleigh Country Club in New Jersey from a few months back.  I always enjoy shooting and learning about different wedding traditions from around the world.  This wedding was a long but fun and exciting day.  I love the vivid colors!  I can’t say enough nice things about Sharon and Shelby, they are so much fun to be around that they made this fourteen hour shoot feel more like a quick six.    Before concluding the festivities with a milk ceremony at Sharon’s parents house, we once again visited the spot where we shot their engagement session to catch another gorgeous Hudson River sunset.

The last time we saw Krista + Dave featured on the blog was for their Montauk Point engagement session.  It’s one of my one of my favorites, and not just because of the lobster rolls on the way home.  In keeping with their quintessential Long Island shore theme, we join them again for their wedding at Danford’s Inn on Port Jefferson Harbor. I’ve never seen so many smiling faces in one place.  Every one in attendance, including the photographer, thinks they are the perfect match.  Krista and I go waaaay back.  I’m talking kindergarten, I was so happy to hear from her when she became engaged to Dave.  I’m sure I’ve said this before, but I need to mention again how grateful I am that my hometown of Farmingdale, NY takes care of it’s own.  Thanks to all my fellow “Daler” clients, past, present and future, for helping to make InfocusNYC Photography an ongoing success!

Lindsay + Sebouth held their wedding at the Staten Island oasis Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden.  This venue was unknown to me before speaking with Lindsay.  I found it to be a wonderfully different and picturesque location.  One of the most unique features of the property, the Zen garden, was the perfect setting for their Buddhist Ceremony at sunset. One of her underlying themes of the wedding, origami, were all hand folded by Lindsay herself.  There must have been hundreds of little paper Cranes everywhere!

Julia and Dennis made sure to represent BK to the fullest!!! Brooklyn is where they were born and raised, currently live, had me shoot their engagement session on the beach at Coney Island, and held their wedding at the Russian Enclave of Baku Palace in Sheepshead bay. This was my first chance to photograph a Russian wedding, and I must say, the vodka flowed like water til the wee hours of the morning while everyone, young and old, had a fabulous time. Joe Sanfilippo joined me on this wedding, covering the guys earlier in the day and 2nd shooting for the rest of the festivities. As always, he did a fabulous job – Thanks Joe. I must say, I’m looking forward to my next chance to cover a Russian event–they can party with the best of ‘em for sure. Thanks for looking my little babushkas!

One of the best validations a photographer can have is to be asked by a colleague to cover an event for their family.  Such is the case with Rebecca + Mark’s wedding.  I was very surprised and flattered when my good friend Joe Sanfilippo asked me to cover 2 of his cousin’s weddings recently. He would be attending as a guest and not as a photographer.  Although I caught Joe taking some cell phone camera photos he managed to enjoy himself as a guest.  In a few months Joe will be returning the favor when he photographs my sister’s wedding in August.

It’s important for a photographer like me to have close friends in the business.  Joe would cover me should I have an unfortunate mishap that would not allow me to be there for my clients.  Besides having each other’s back, we’re both good friends with many talented local photographers. Knock on wood, I haven’t missed any dates but it’s reassuring to know that if I did my clients would still receive great photos! In fact one of those photographers joined me on this wedding.  Michelle Neacy, an extremely talented and published landscape and  wildlife photographer joined me on this wedding.  She is now venturing into portraiture.  You know the beautiful post cards you buy when you go on vacation?  She probably took the photograph!

As for Rebecca and Mark, I’m just crazy about these two.  They are so very much in love and were one of the most pleasant couples to be around, both at their engagement session and at the wedding as well .  They didn’t waste any time in starting a family and are expecting a baby in just a few months from now.  I can’t wait to meet her!  They are going to be wonderful, loving parents. Congrats to them!

The last time we saw Lena + Sean was for their engagement session on the North Shore.  This time they are back for the highlights from their gorgeous wedding at Timber Point Country Club in Oakdale Long Island.  Shooting such a young couple and bridal party had me feeling young and limber, so much so I thought it a good idea to shoot from the “hood” of a “speeding” golf cart.    I survived!

Thanks to all of our wonderful clients, Infocus NYC has received The Knot.com’s Best of Weddings Award for 2012! Since it’s based on client reviews, we couldn’t be happier! 2011 was our busiest year yet with even more on our calendar for 2012. I’m looking forward to capturing more memories and making more friends–the best part of my work!
