After being less than pleased with their wedding photos from one of the larger Long Island studios, Maureen and Dan wanted to do a 1 year anniversary session with us.   We decided to shoot in the Manhattan neighborhood where they first met and fell in love.  We started at the bar where it all began and worked our way from there.  I was glad to work with them and am happy that they now have some images that they can enjoy for years.

I recently spent an afternoon taking some shots with Broadway’s Rock of Ages actor Dan Domenech.  Dan has been everywhere the past few months following the success of the show including the  singing the national anthem at Citifield, an interview on Good Morning America,  the “I Will” campaign for 9/11, a hysterical “which hunk?” poll on Broadway.com and now here on the InfocusNYC blog!

As the summer winds down and we get ready for down coats and snow shovels again I’d thought I’d post something from the beach.  Gabriela is a model who makes a living promoting brands and products at various events throughout the tri-state area.  It’s important for her to maintain a current portfolio and we get together once a year for a shoot.  This year we decided to do a swim wear shoot in Long Beach on Long Island.  Let’s hope September is a warm summery one for 2010!!!

I’ve shot Sweet 16s.  I’ve shot Bar/Bat/B’nai Mitzvahs.  I’ve even shot a few Quinceañeras.  But an elegant 18?  This was something new for me.  Well not really.  An elegant 18 is just like a sweet 16 except the guest of honor is 2 years older   We started the day in the Bronx for some getting ready shots and then made our way to Astoria Park with it’s wonderful bridge and skyline vistas.  The party was held at the Astoria World Manor in Astoria Queens.  It was a great time and a welcome change of pace shooting to the sounds of  Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Reggaeton.

Julianne is about to graduate college and has done some modeling throughout.  She has recently relocated to New York  and requested an update for her portfolio.  We got together in Central Park recently.  The park has so much diversity.  Combine that with the changing seasons plus the fact that its just a tremendous place and you could never shoot the same scene twice!

I recently got together with Surina in studio so she can give her wedding dress one more night of glory.  She was even able to get her hands on a 2nd dress for double the bridal portrait fun!  The beautiful hairpieces are by Artikal handcrafted millinery and the wonderful work on Surina’s makeup and hair was by Laura Amara.  The photography and lighting of course were by yours truly.

Kristen and Tom decided on an after session at the Bailey Arboretum in Lattingtown.  It was great to see them again and reminisce on all the shenanigans that went down at the wedding.  The arboretum features landscapes of a unspoiled section of the north shore which made for some very scenic and beautiful photos. 

When someone chooses to book one of my wedding packages they have a choice of an included Engagement session, Bridal Session, Post Bridal Session, commonly known as a Trash-the Dress (TTD), or a Boudoir Session (pronounced booed-wa).  Most clients choose the engagement session in excitement for their upcoming union.  Jasmine, who booked all by herself,  had a different kind of excitement for her Fiancé Charlie in mind when she went with the Boudoir Session.  Isn’t he a lucky Guy?

I have  been donating work to  New Explorers High School in the South Bronx.   I recently shot school portraits and have also been covering events at the school for years.  This past year I opened NEHSphotos.com.  It’s very popular with the kids and I have had a blast creating it for them!  Here are a few of my favorites from the recent portrait day.
